Interesting breakdown of those sections. At first I thought it was a 'lazy' survey (parallel lines on the east and west sides of the half sections), but upon looking at the original GLO plat from 1882 only Sections 1-5, NE 1/4 of 6, 8, & 9 were originally surveyed. It appears that the surveyor did a standup job understanding what should be retraced, and what he was originally surveying.
